Travel to Malindi

Kenya's a beautiful country and you'll find a holiday in Malindi as remarkable as you'd hope. Situated on the Indian Ocean coastline, the city's a great example of past Swahili architecture. The Ruins of Gedi are located nearby and can provide a fascinating insight into a bygone era – keep an eye out for the friendly guenon monkeys. The beautiful white sandy beach resort of Watamu is well worth a visit. History buffs should put the Malindi Museum Society on their agenda as it offers a captivating insight into the history and culture of the region.

There are no direct flights to Malindi flying out from the UK but you will be able to buy indirect flights – they'll require you to stopover for a few hours. You'll have the choice of flying with a variety of airlines including KLM, Air France, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates. Always do your research online before you book any tickets – you'll want to find the cheapest possible deal. You'll fly into Malandi Airport, but if you really don't fancy changing planes, you can also fly directly into Moi International Airport which is located in Mobassa – keep in mind it's situated around 112 kilometres away. It's worth enquiring with your hotel to see if they offer airport transfers – it can save a lot of hassle when you arrive at the airport.

One of the best ways to travel around during your holiday in Malindi is by taking advantage of the matatus. They're privately owned minibuses that run along set routes.
