Although I'm relatively new to the Dealchecker team, i've already caught the travel bug! Obviously I'm staying put (promise, guys!) but being surrounded by such amazing holidays all the time does leave you daydreaming sometimes - especially as I'm in charge of making sure that prices really are as good as they sound. I would consider myself a bit of an expert on city breaks in lovely little boutique hotels, and have lots of tips and advice on visiting the Canary Islands!
I've been to Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote many times and really love all of them. You can get fantastic deals to the Canaries, which means that they are accessible to everyone. They are also great for winter sun - it's still warm even in November/December because despite being Spanish, the islands are further south than Morocco.
I love skiing, and try to go at least once a year. I love the adrenaline rush, the challenge and the sense of achievement once you've reached the bottom of a particularly tricky run - but the après ski shenanigans are a big draw, too!
I can certainly slum it when I need to, but I do enjoy a stay in a sleek boutique hotel from time to time! Finding hidden gems isn't as difficult as it seems, and the great thing about smaller hotels is that you can usually negotiate much more easily! If you don't ask you don't get, I say.
TRAVEL TIP - "Roll all your clothes inside of folding them - loads more room and they don't crease."
Travelling round Croatia for the summer. Started in Dubrovnik and went all the way to the top for a festival in Petrcane then travelled back down to Hvar and Split.
A villa in Bandol, south of France with all my extended family. There was loads to do (water sports, visiting vineyards, swim in the pool, lie on the beach, walk round the town) The food was delicious and the weather was amazing!
Summer holiday - travelling round Australia/New Zealand with friends. Winter holiday - skiing in whistler
I went skiing with some friends and one of their suitcases managed to get sent to the wrong airport so she didn't have any warm clothing, ski jacket, salopettes or boots. Luckily her insurance covered lost luggage so she had to go out and buy everything, without it she would have missed half the holiday.
I like going on holiday with a group of people so at least 2 or 3 friends - but the more the merrier!
Combination - Definitely need a bit of time to do nothing on a sun lounger but I get bored really easily need things to do. Something like a sailing holiday would be pretty perfect - where you can be busy if you want but there is still lots of time to do nothing and get an amazing tan
A competitive price with as many added extras as possible.
Italy. I'm an ice cream addict!
