Being in charge of our Real Deals newsletter each week has been a crash course in ruthless deal-finding, I'm not going to hesitate to throw out a deal that I don't think comes up to scratch, and constantly checking for last-minute changes in price. It's a world away from my travel persona. I travel to get away from it all, to spend a whole day on the beach in the company of a good book, where my biggest decision is the choice from the cocktail menu and the only thing last minute is my packing for the journey home!
I sometimes wonder how I developed such a love of travelling despite having a father who was too terrified to fly. As a result a lot of my holidays as a child were to the British coast, most frequently camping trips to the sunny Isle of Wight!
I like the sun, the sangrias and the siestas. Do I need another reason why I keep going back?
My family came from the south of Italy, but I reckon I've spent more time visiting the Northern Italian towns and villages.
It's not a destination we feature on dealchecker often but I've tested my pretty basic Spanish and Portuguese language skills in a fair few Latin American countries.
Regardless of which country I'm in a beach trip is always forefront in my mind. I like to consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur. If you ever find anyone hiring for a beach reviewer position, I'm your girl (But shhhhh! Don't tell the boss!)
TRAVEL TIP - "I can be a bit of a travel geek - so I'd always recommend reading a bit about your destination's history and culture before you go away."
Two weeks travelling around Japan.
Brazil - perfectly combines my love of beaches and cities with sunshine and samba.
A yachting holiday around the Mediterranean. I need to learn to sail first though.
I lost my passport in the middle of the Amazon and had to stay in the rainforest for an extra week while I sorted it out. But, proving that every cloud has a silver lining I got to have my first decent cup of English tea in four months at the consulate's office.
Good friends and good books
I'm a sunlounger (but I'm reasonably active when I'm not on a beach)
I'm always looking for a great deal on accommodation, and I'll save money by opting for basic if necessary - it just means I have more cash to splurge once I get to my destination.
Italy. I'm an ice cream addict!
