US$. Currency exchange can vary across the city so shop around, although the airport is the worst place to choose. Using an ATM will give you a good rate but be aware of any charges your bank may add.

Hurricane season runs from mid-August to the end of September but emergencies are rare.

Entry:

UK travellers will need their valid passport to enter the USA and will need to fill in a visa waiver form (these are usually handed out on the flight over). You also need to apply for an ESTA, an electronic travel authorisation, at least 72 hours before travel. The ESTA costs $14, but lasts for 2 years.
