Hot Spots

Old Montreal

The narrow cobbled streets of Old Montreal resemble Old Europe. Buildings date back to the 17th and 18th centuries and there are plenty of museums and restaurants dotted along the river. The Old Port features a pretty waterfront and quayside development with boutique shops, parks, exhibitions and tours. You'll notice that during the summer months the Montreal streets here come alive. Attractions situated at the Old Port include Cirque du Soleil, the Montreal Science Center, the Labyrinth and the Clock Tower.

Downtown Montreal

As the Central Business District, downtown Montreal houses corporate headquarters, skyscrapers and Place Ville-Marie which sits on top of Montreal's Underground City. Saint Catherine Street is the main artery running through downtown and is lined with higher end retail outlets. Mount Royal lies on the borders of downtown and, if you can make it to the top, has spectacular views of the business district below.

Gay Village

Montreal is home to the largest gay village in North America. The area has received a great deal of support and investment by the government and local metro stop Beaudry has been rebuilt to feature a rainbow row of columns. Streets are awash with culture, nightlife and places to eat and drink which has made the neighbourhood a popular spot for those on holiday in Montreal.

Little Italy

Described as the 'Joie de Vivre', Little Italy has a unique mixture of architecture dating back to the 19th century. Notre Dame Basilica Montreal and La Difesa church are both situated here. Shopping is fabulous in Little Italy. There is Jean Talon market for fresh produce and Saint Laurent Boulevard which is home to some famous Italian designers and boutiques. Let's not forget to mention the food - there's a huge selection of restaurants ranging from trattorias to fine dining establishments.

Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter in Montreal is represented by a fun and friendly atmosphere, not to mention the multitude of museums, university buildings and theatres. It has a real hybrid feeling representative of the mix of institutions and people now living here. The district has been built around Montreal's main metro station Berri-UQAM.
