New Zealand

Travel to New Zealand

There are international airports in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown all of which are serviced by flights from the UK. Remember that you will have to pay a $25 departure tax when flying out of all airports except Auckland.

On arrival in New Zealand

All of New Zealand's international airports have regular bus services into town. Taxis and car hire are also popular options for reaching your hotel.

Getting around New Zealand

If you're intending to see both the North and South Island you'll probably want to get a plane between the two. Air New Zealand has flights between all major cities and with the no frills airline Jetstar it's often cheaper to fly than to take alternative modes of transport around the country. There are many operators running coach services around both islands. These include adventure holiday tours like Flying Kiwi Adventures, coach operators like inter City and budget options like the Naked Bus company. The roads in New Zealand are good if you're planning on hiring a car and making a self drive holiday. And just like the UK they drive on the left.

Travelling further afield

Due to the high population of Polynesian and Maori people, there are lots of regular flights out of New Zealand to the South Pacific islands. There are also regular flights to Australia.
