Travel to Olu Deniz

A holiday in Olu Deniz is a perfect beach getaway. Located on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, the town of Olu Deniz is home to the famous Blue Lagoon and framed by lush mountains and clear blue sea. The fine white sands of Belcekiz beach are perfect for sun bathing while those seeking action will be impressed by the variety of water sports on offer from paragliding to snorkelling. For history and culture, the centre of Olu Deniz has beautiful ruins, ancient buildings and cobbled streets perfect for meandering around the sites.

There are flights to Turkey from most UK airports including East Midlands, Edinburgh and London. The most convenient airport to get to Olu Deniz is Dalaman Airport. Budget airline easyJet offers the cheapest flights departing from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Manchester and Bristol, but it's also possible to fly direct to Dalaman with Monarch, Thomson Flights and Jet2. The average journey time is around four hours.

Dalaman Airport is located around an hour's drive from the town of Fethiye. There is a bus service that connects Dalaman Airport with Fethiye town run by Havas. From Fethiye there are frequent minibuses, known as dolmus that travel to Olu Deniz and this is the cheapest way of getting from the airport to your Olu Deniz hotel. You can also get a taxi, although the cost can be quite high. Alternatively, you can hire a car in Turkey, picking it up at Dalaman Airport. For the best deals, book in advance. The roads are well maintained and the journey to Olu Deniz should take around an hour and a half. A car is also perfect for exploring the wider area during your holiday in Olu Deniz.

Cheap hotels in Turkey are plentiful, and Olu Deniz offers a variety, although slightly limited, range of accommodation options. For the cheapest hotels, it's best to head slightly out of the town centre to the areas of Ovacik and Hisaronu where there are numerous hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs at affordable prices. It's always best to book in advance to secure the best possible deals.

You don't have to spend a fortune during a holiday to Olu Deniz. Relaxing, sun bathing and swimming on the beautiful beach cost nothing, while a wander around the town centre offers plenty to feast the eyes on without impacting on your budget! As with most destinations, any of the tourist-orientated restaurants and bars will charge more so are best avoided in favour of the smaller, more authentic local places.
