On your holiday in Paraguay you will get to see natural reserves, rural villages and subtropical rainforests. The country is a contrast of untouched beauty and man-made buildings. Asunción is a wonderful colonial town which you can explore, with rural villages on its outskirts and Ciudad del Este is a chaotic city which borders on Brazil and is a short trip from the breathtaking Iguazu Falls. Taking a trip down the Rio Paraguay, the major river that runs through Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia, is also a definite must. What are you waiting for? Book your flight to Paraguay today!
You can get indirect flights to Paraguay to two destinations. Airline carrier TAM Linhas Aeras flies into Ciudad del Este and Asunción from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London City airport. You can also fly with TAP and Iberia from London to Asunciñn and if you are travelling from Manchester you can pick up a flight with KLM. However, there are no direct flights to Paraguay.
If you are flying into Asunción Pettirossi International Airport you can pick up a taxi for under US$20 to the town centre but if you are on a tight budget you can get a bus for under US$1 which will only take around 20 to 30 minutes.
There are many ways to travel around Paraguay but the cheapest way is via the country s bus service. If you are planning to spend more time taking taxis than buses, agree a price before you start your journey because the they do not run on a meter and you could have a shock over the price if you don'negotiate first.
The best time to visit Paraguay is in the winter months (May to September). Summer is extremely hot and can sometimes be unbearable. Flights are consistently priced throughout the year and travelling out of season won'get you a better deal but you may find this is the perfect time to pick up cheap hotel rooms. As a general rule accommodation is relatively affordable anyway, so you should be able to find cheap hotels in Paraguay without too much trouble. However, it is always advisable to book in advance to snap up any cheaper than cheap deals.
As well as other countries in South America the Paraguayans are fond of milanesas and empanadas. Milanesas are breaded and fried thin pieces of meat, typically steak and empanadas are fried pastries which can be filled with meat, vegetables or ham and cheese. If you're doing your trip on a shoestring budget, you can buy empanadas from street vendors alongside hotdogs and burgers for next to nothing.
