When to go to

Portugal

Experiencing subtropical climates, Portugal is a pleasant holiday destination all year round. This applies especially in the Algarve where you actually might want to consider avoiding the mid summer when temperatures can reach 45°C. Head out in the spring or autumn instead. You might even want to consider a winter break to Lisbon which has some of the mildest winter climates in Europe. In the northern and mountainous interior regions of Portugal temperatures are much colder in the winter with snow and freezing temperatures common. The winter months can also be extremely wet in the north.

Those considering travelling to Portugal in the off season will be richly rewarded for it, not only benefitting from bargain basement prices but also from seeing the more traditional, old fashioned face of the country.
