Travel to Prague

There are over 20 airports across the UK offering flights to Prague, and plenty of airlines covering the route so there's a great chance of getting a cheap flight, especially if you can change your travel dates to get the best value. If you fancy reducing your carbon footprint, Prague is easy to reach by train. Start with a Eurostar to Paris from where you can catch onward daytime or sleeper connections. Typical journey times are around 20 hours.

On arrival in Prague

The airport is 20km outside the city and there are plenty of options for getting to your hotel. Firstly, check whether your hotel offers an airport shuttle, which is by far the easiest option. There are several bus services, and some special express shuttle buses. These cost more than the local buses but take a shorter time. Both generally stop at a variety of metro stations for your onward journey. Taxis are quite expensive as AAA have a monopoly on service but you can call for another taxi company which is normally cheaper, just take a number with you. Hire cars are also available.

Getting around Prague

Many hotels offer shuttle services to Prague's major sights. Plus Prague is an easy place to walk around, so you may never need to use the public transport. It is an excellent and cheap way of getting around though, with three metro lines, several ferries and lots of tram routes. Tickets are valid on all modes of transport, just remember to validate your tickets in the small machines to avoid a fine! Taxis are really expensive and often overcharge so be sure to call a reputable company if you need one.

Travelling further afield

Prague is very well connected through the rail network with super fast connections across the Czech Republic and easy connections to Germany, France, Austria and the Netherlands. There are also plenty of options for intercity bus travel from Prague bus station with a large number of destinations available in countries as far flung as Sweden, Spain and Bulgaria.
