Old Rome

Old Rome the epicentre for historic architecture dating from Rome's influential medieval and Renaissance past. The wide, atmospheric plazas like the Navona, looming cathedrals, and the ever iconic Pantheon, this is a must see area for anyone hoping to immerse themselves in Rome's mysterious past. Old Rome is a mystical, historically rich area that is worth exploring with a guide book in hand! On a different (but no less important!) note, one of the cities' most renowned and delicioso gelato parlours can be found in this area ; the ice cream parlour Giolitti has been open for years and is the perfect accompaniment to a guidebook-heavy stroll!

Modern centre

The modern centre of Rome is home to many of the newer hotels of the city, as well as many of the shops and restaurants that are popular choices for tourists. The modern centre is home to the Quirinale, Barberini, Castro Pretorio, and Republica areas. The area also holds the Trevi Fountain, an iconic and beautiful relic of old Rome that has featured in nearly as many films as it has tourist photos! There are lots of vibrant bars dotted around this area, so whether you want to make friends, sink a few Bellinis or maybe both, this area will give you opportunity to do so!

Colloseo

The heart of ancient Rome; the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Forum of Augustus, the Forum and Markets of Trajan, the Capitoline and its museums can all be found here. This area is one of the most well known and authentic parts of Rome and attracts tourists in their thousands all year round. Grab your camera, wander into any one of the visual treats this area offers and just marvel at the gorgeous ruined architecture that surrounds you. There are also some pleasant cafes and bars to be found around this area should sightseeing take its toll.

Vatican

The separate Papal City State covers some 110 acres within the city of Rome, and is home to glorious relics, museums and untold historical treasures belonging to the Catholic church. An undeniably iconic area of Rome, make sure you queue up for the Sistine Chapel and take in what is arguably Michaelangelos' finest work.

North Centre

Situated in the north part of Rome, the North Centre is home to the Villa Borghese, the Spanish Steps, and the elegant neighbourhoods of Parioli and Salario. This area is one of the most fashionable and glamorous parts of the city; here you will find designer shopping, groomed Italian women in high heels and plenty of tourists marvelling at the banquet of Italian sights and sounds before them. The Spanish steps are a fantastic place to sit and people watch with an espresso in hand and take in the unique street dynamic that Rome is famous for.

Trastevere

The land to the south of the Vatican, on the west bank of the Tiber River is full of narrow cobbled streets and lonely plazas that served as the inspiration for artists such as Giorgio de Chirico. Now arguably the centre of Rome's artistic life, the Trastevere is the perfect place to come to ponder, wander and deliberate away from the hustle and bustle of Rome's day to day life.
