On arrival in Singapore

Most visitors to Singapore find that they are easily able to reach their hotel with a combination of public transport and taxis. Although Singapore car hire is also available at the airport.

Getting around Singapore

There are many options for getting around Singapore. The two rail networks are the most popular, with low prices and great coverage. Buses, and in particular the night buses, are also a good way to travel around. For shorter journey the local three-wheeled bikes, trishaws, operate within the main tourist areas for sight-seeing trips and boat travel for convenience and pleasure is also available. Many people choose to cycle about or even walk when staying in the central area.

Travelling further afield

Singapore is connected to Malaysia by several causeways. Bus routes run along these, making it easy to get to destinations like Kuala Lumpur by public transport. In fact you may find it easier to use public transport than to drive, as taking a hire car across the border is complicated. The same journey can also be made by train, with connections to other destinations across Malaysia. Ferries leave for both Indonesia and Malaysia too, but none of these options are as easy to use as the local public transport.
