It's no wonder that Spain is a favourite holiday destination among us Brits when there's so much to see and do. Clubbers paradise Ibiza is at its best during the music festival Ibiza Rocks while its sister island Majorca holds Majorca Rocks. But if peace and quiet is what you're after then Costa Brava offers miles of white sandy beaches. Barcelona and Madrid are great for vibrant city breaks with fantastic museums and great food. Don't forget to sample the local delicacy of paella in its hometown of Valencia. You won't regret taking a Spain holiday this year!
Flights to Spain are plentiful and with direct routes from all major UK airports it makes the perfect destination for a summer holiday or just a short break away. With budget airlines such as easyJet and Ryanair alongside Monarch, Thomson Flights and Flythomascook all offering flights to Spain it's easy to get a good deal. Simply make sure you shop around before you book!
Try to use public transport when travelling around during your holiday in Spain as taxis can be quite expensive. Buses and trains offer an efficient and reasonable way of seeing Spain. Just be aware that there can be delays on trains in the smaller cities so try to catch the train before the one you actually need!
Have a look into car hire in Spain if you're planning on seeing lots of sights. Check with your airline to see if they offer discounted rates and book well in advance to make sure you get a bargain!
Your holiday in Spain doesn't have to cost the earth, you can get a cheap hotel in Spain if you take the time to shop around online. If you can, try to go outside school holidays as hotels in Spain can be very expensive during this time. The weather is still very pleasant in both May and September so you'll still come back with a nice golden tan!
Eating out all the time can work out expensive so keep a look out for restaurants advertising menú del día. This lunchtime meal usually consists of soup or salad, a main course and a dessert all for a set price, sometimes wine is even included!
City breaks don't always have to be expensive. If you visit one of Spain's amazing cities take advantage of the surroundings for free! Visit the large array of parks or simply just walk round the city walls and admire the famous architecture - take a picnic with you to save even more money.
