Travel to Tanzania

A holiday in Tanzania is an unforgettable experience not least because it's the home of the world's highest free standing mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro. However there's more to your holiday in Tanzania than mountain climbing. Animal lovers should take advantage of watching the wildlife in their natural habitats in the national parks. Make sure you witness the amazing Great Migration at Serengeti National Park where over a million wildebeest head to the Southern plains. The Selous Safari Camp is an eye opener too at over 55,000 square kilometres! With something on offer for everyone, a holiday in Tanzania is the perfect getaway.

Direct flights to Tanzania can work out very expensive so it's be best to purchase indirect flights if you're on a budget. Many African airlines such as Kenyan Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines offer good value indirect flights to Tanzania and fly to both of the country's major airports; Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airport.

The most convenient way to travel during your holiday in Tanzania is using the local bus services. As most buses travel in and out of Dar Es Salaam they're never in short supply. The main bus station Ubungo is located eight kilometres west of the city centre. If you prefer to travel with a little more comfort keep an eye out for intercity buses that offer complimentary drinks and biscuits. Just make sure you keep a firm grip on your valuables, they may not always be safe in the overhead storage.

Hotels in Tanzania can be expensive, but there are deals to be had and it's possible to find a cheap Tanzania hotel by booking well in advance. And if you travel outside of peak times during April, May and November your money will go even further. Don?t fret as you will still have an amazing time on safari!

Tanzania is well known for offering beautiful national parks and game reserves. Although the better national parks are said to be situated in the north of the country, it can work out expensive. In order to make your money last during your holiday in Tanzania, take a trip to the national parts in the south. These are visited less by tourists but can still be equally as beautiful - Ruaha National Park in particular is said to be a local favourite.

If you're planning on tackling Mount Kilimanjaro on your Tanzania holiday book your trek when you reach Tanzania rather than in advance through a travel company as you'll be able to get the excursion for cheaper. Just make sure you fully research the guides in Tanzania to make sure you book with a reputable company. You won?t be saving money if they're rogue dealers!
