If you're craving sun, sea and sand then a Tenerife holiday is for you as there's plenty to keep you occupied! As the highest mountain in Spain it's worth catching a cable car up to Mount Teide and soak up the scenery. The lively capital of Santa Cruz will have you spoilt for choice - will you do some tax free shopping or have a wander around the leafy parks first? The Tenerife Carnival that's centred around the capital during the weeks leading up to Lent is a must see - marvel at the amazing giant sardine!
London Gatwick, Edinburgh and Cardiff are among the airports which offer direct flights to Tenerife with the flight time usually just over four hours. Ryanair, easyJet, Thomson Flights and Flythomascook are just a few of the airlines that fly into the island but make sure you shop around and you'll grab a bargain. There are two airports and depending on which resort you're visiting you'll either fly into Tenerife South Airport (near Los Cristianos) and Tenerife North Airport, located 11 kilometres away from the capital of Santa Cruz. Indirect flights are available but they tend to work out a bit more expensive.
The local buses - known as guaguas - offer one of the cheapest ways of travelling around during your Tenerife holiday. Taxis can work out very expensive so instead look into car hire in Tenerife if you want to explore the remote parts of the island. There are many car rental agencies so make sure you shop around before you take the plunge.
Although the island can sometimes be pricey it doesn't have to cost to earth to have a Tenerife holiday. Cheap hotels in Tenerife can easily be found just as long as you shop around and book well in advance. Tenerife is very popular with holidaymakers and can get especially busy when Brits go abroad during the school summer holidays. Saying that, the weather remains consistently good throughout the year meaning you're almost guaranteed warm weather whenever you visit, and you may save money by going at less busy times.
If Chinese is one of your favourite cuisines keep an eye out for the buffet restaurants. They offer excellent value for money if you're on a budget as you can eat as much as you want! Try the local beer of Dorada with your dinner.
If you're planning to cram lots of sightseeing in one day it's worth buying a pre-paid Bono Bus ticket for around €12 as you can save between 30-50% off a regular fare - a great money saver if you're planning multiple trips.

We went here to see it as we'd heard it's the most famous bit of architecture in the Canaries and I have to say I never saw anything so ugly in my life! Not worth the effort.
