Holidays in the UK come in so many forms thanks to the abundance of exciting cities, beautiful landscapes and fun attractions. Whether you want to visit the Tower of London on a cheap UK break, get up close to the Angel of the North on a weekend away or spend two weeks lying on the beach in Cornwall (or trying to - we can't guarantee the weather!), the UK is a great holiday destination all year round. There are a host of interesting historical sites to see such as Stonehenge and Hampton Court Palace, as well as plenty of cultural attractions like West End theatre shows and the daily cannon blast at Edinburgh Castle.
With cheap flights around the UK becoming more readily available, it's easier than ever to head off on your UK holiday without worrying about being stuck in traffic for the best part of a day. There are airports all over the UK and most flights take around an hour from take off to landing, so this really is the fast option for getting your cheap UK holiday started. Why not fly to Belfast for the weekend, check out Liverpool, the European Capital of Culture from 2008, or head off into the Peak District for a cheap back-to-nature break!
There are other ways to avoid the long slog behind the wheel too - try the train or long-distance coaches. You can always pick up some cheap UK car hire when you arrive. If you're heading to one of the UK cities, check out the public transport before you go. This means you can get a well located cheap UK hotel and save on unnecessary journey times.
If you do decide to drive or get hold of a UK hire car, it's worth checking beforehand whether your hotel has free parking available. Be aware that traffic gets really bad over bank holidays and on weekends during school holidays. If you can, aim to travel on a week day; you'll be more likely to have a smooth and speedy journey.
With such a variety of places to stay all over the country, it's easy to find yourself cheap UK hotels with a little bit of advanced planning. In fact, getting organised early can really save you money on your UK flights and car hire too. It's trickier to find cheap city hotels, particularly if you're after a central location, but if you just want a place to lay your head why not look out for a privately owned B&B? Alternatively, look out for our offers on the Real Deals page, which regularly features UK hotel offers as well as cheap UK holidays.
Most people tend to take their holidays in the UK over the summer. Though since spring and autumn often offer a great combination of good weather and fewer crowds, it's time to think about branching out. Spring and autumn are also great if you want to get out into the countryside for walking holidays or hiking holidays, as the cooler temperatures make it easier to spend a day walking the hills, lake shores, coastal paths, or riversides. City breaks are popular in winter with shopping breaks a great idea for getting gifts, hitting the sales, and seeing somewhere new.
