This is a massive fortress - or rather a series of fortresses. The top fortifications date from the 14th century and the bottom from the 18th century. It's really impressive and the iconic view of Alicante. Asside from the wonderful old fortifications to admire, you'll have the stunning views of the bay to enjoy.

My wife and I had a really lovely morning here, luckily there weren't too many kids so we could go on most of the interactive stuff! Great information about the history of the twon as well as some lovely bits of art from the region.

This is the most interesting archaeology museum i've been to, and I really enjoyed learning about the techniques they use to discover the aftefacts as well as looking at the artefacts and reconstructions themselves. A truly interesting day out.

The Santa Barbara Castle was the undisputed highlight of our trip to Alicante. It perches so precariously over the town and the views from it are quite breath taking. It really is the stuff of childhood fantasies.
