Agora

You can feel the historical significance of this place, the meeting and businedd hub of what was the centre of the world. The theatre is amazing and I was surprised to learn that Socrates committed suicide here too. The 200BC Stoa has been lovingly restored and adds to the experience.

Panathenaic Stadium

Being a huge fan of the olympics I was so excited to go to the stadium that held the first modern-day event, built on no less sacred ground than the original stadium. I also remembered it from the recent Athens games. What a wonderful arena, I can only imagine how exciting it would have been to compete.

Adrian hotel Athens is one of the most historic hotel which is situated in the heart of the city. This hotel is very close to the most attractive tourist places in the city. This hotel is very close to Acropolis with a walkable distance of ten to fifteen minutes. It provides excellent room services and also delicious food. This is the best place to enjoy with the friends in the bar.

Parthenon

posted by irishiiiiiis on 30 April 2009 at 13:20

The Parthenon is an architectural masterpiece. The techniques the builders used to make this building are amazing. Read up on it before you go so you can really appreciate it. Example the columns which look straight are actually bowed. If they made them straight they would look bowed! Lots of little factoids like that are available so read up before you go. If you go in the summer where a hat that you can anchor to your head. It is really hot and very windy up there. Bring lots of water, you will need it. Do not wear sandals the area is rocky and slippery and it is very easy to twist an ankle so walk with care. But do not let that stop you, it is wonderful
