This exciting collection of ancient ruins has been partially restored to include a museum to visit, plus lots of history. A nice restaurant is the Vitro within a couple of blocks with extra touches like komboloi (a free favor) beads attached to your price slip and live music every night. The restaurant is delicatessen style with Greek choices.

One of the largest museums in the world, the National Archaeological Museum houses some of the greatest artifacts from Greek antiquity worldwide. The museum houses more than 20,000 exhibits dating from the beginnings of Prehistory to Late Antiquity. Thousands of visitors flow through the doors each year, and are amazed at the rare collections of pottery, jewelry, ancient statues, weapons and utensils. There is also an extensive collection of photographs. The museum is in the central part of the city, so it is easily accessible from most major hotels and tourist areas. This should be a stop on anyone's itinerary when in Athens.
