We had heard so much about the Temple of the Reclining Buddha that we thought it was essential we had a look. It's 46 metres long and 15 metres high and housed in the oldest temple in Bangkok. Go see it - it is simply out of this world.

Lumpini Park is a popular oasis, named after Buddha's birthplace. The best time to arrive is just after sunrise, when hordes of fitness fanatics can be spotted jogging, doing aerobics, practicing tai chi, yoga or even ballroom dancing. You can hire a paddle boat, eat at one of the reasonably priced outdoor restaurants, or just take it easy under a shady tree.
