Benjakiti Park to Lumphini Park

posted by kwardle on 28 September 2011 at 10:40

I walked this route with mixed feelings...it would be awesome to have a rainforest right there since it's not that often you get to see a rainforest. But seeing all the people who live there, surely they can't uproot them??

Part of the joy for me when on a city based holiday is to seek out the greet spots that the locals enjoy, and this is a small gem. It's dominated by a large lake but it's a great peaceful spot for a sit down or lunch. You can even take a raised walkway all the way to the next park!

The perfect tonic to city life. We were stuck in Bangkok for a week whilst travelling and this was our favourite place, pretty gardens, ponds and nice places to sit and raed. Also, you can see people play thai football!

Lumphihi Park

One of the few parks in Bangkok there are lots of interesting things going on here, perfect for a good bit of people-watching. There's a couple of weights areas where we laughed at wannabe beefcakes and a lake where we hired one of those fun swan pedaloes. The views of the highrises are also pretty spectacular.

Lumpini Park

Lumpini Park is a popular oasis, named after Buddha's birthplace. The best time to arrive is just after sunrise, when hordes of fitness fanatics can be spotted jogging, doing aerobics, practicing tai chi, yoga or even ballroom dancing. You can hire a paddle boat, eat at one of the reasonably priced outdoor restaurants, or just take it easy under a shady tree.
