The Cathedral of St Eulia is the most important attraction in the Barri Gothic part of town. It is an incredible piece of medieval architecture with a vast vaulted nave and some suitably gruesome gargoyles. It's also situated in a lovely part of town with nearby fleamarkets and cafes.

Tibidabo is the tallest of the peaks surrounding Barcelona. Given that it's visible from all around the town, its quite amazing that more people don't visit... It was virtually deserted when I visited. There's a church at the top which has great views out to sea, there's also a century old theme park which was really interesting to see.

Don't be deterred by the the fact that the Sagrada Familia is still a bit of a building site inside, it remains the most extraordinary building I've ever seen. Its really inspiring to see craftsmen at work on carvings inside.
