Tianamen Square

posted by vwyatt on 12 August 2010 at 12:43

Tiananmen Square is massive, in fact if I'm not mistaken, its the biggest town square in the world! It is known now for the massacres of student protesters but its worth seeing for a lot of other reasons besides. The tomb of Mao is a highlight and is surrounded by striking 1950s communist architecture. Try to get there in the late afternoon or early evening when you can see the flag raising ceremonies.
