Amazing contrasts here, the half-ruined stump, the glittering blue mosaic, it's just unforgettable.

The oldest church in Berlin, traditional on the outside, elegant and perfectly formed on the inside. We came across it when we were strolling the bank of the river Spree, and spied it just off the river. Lovely place to visit.

I really admire the spirit behind deciding to keep the old, war-torn church and build the new one beside it, the contrast is great. The new church is stunning, from the blue exterior to the freestanding bell tower, it's great design. Don't forget to go to the the Gedenkenhalle (memory hall) showing what the place used to look like bfore the war in the old church

Berlin Cathedral is one of the largest Protestant Church in Berlin, Germany. It is the most attractive place for the church lovers. It was built from 1894-1905 on the Spree island. It acted as both the main Prussian Protestant church as well as the court church of the ruling Hohenzollerns. The present 98 meters high dome with cross was previously 114 meters high. It was damaged severely during the war. In front of the cathedral there is a garden plaza, the Lustgarten. The cathedral was re-opened on 24th September 1999. It is now designed according to the Schinkel plans with a new fountain in front of it.

One of the most poignant reminders of World War II in Berlin can be found at the bombed out ruins of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Visitors can still enter what is left of the church and see the how beautiful it used to be. The state that its in reminds us of the devastation of war.
