I went to Berlin to visit and old friend and she's laid on a real treat! You have to make an advance booking to go to this amazing fort, one of the oldest buildings in Berlin, but it's truly a remarkable place.

The oldest church in Berlin, traditional on the outside, elegant and perfectly formed on the inside. We came across it when we were strolling the bank of the river Spree, and spied it just off the river. Lovely place to visit.

I really admire the spirit behind deciding to keep the old, war-torn church and build the new one beside it, the contrast is great. The new church is stunning, from the blue exterior to the freestanding bell tower, it's great design. Don't forget to go to the the Gedenkenhalle (memory hall) showing what the place used to look like bfore the war in the old church
