In contrast to the bits aimed at the tourists the winding narrow streets of Old Bodrum are really a world apart. There's plenty to see along the way but i'd really just say that the wandering about and the surprises are the best part. Don't forget to look out for Myndos Gate, the old entrance to the city, it's pretty impressive!

There are loads of trips you can take from Bodrum if you want to see other bits of Turkey and this year I went to Marmaris for the day, which was lovely. Great to be out on the sea and exploring new places.

The waters around Bodrum are stunning, crystal clear and lovely and warm. A few friends got chatting to a local and he recommended the blue voyage. It was lovely, sooooo relaxing, and nice to see other parts of the country too.

We took a day trip out here and it was really fun to wade across the causeway. The island is really pretty with little ruins hidden here and there and the sunset is simply gorgeous. Just watch out for the tide coming in and having to be waist deep on the return wade!!

About 20km west of bodrum, we drove our hire car and it was pretty simple.
