Budapest's fanciest, most famous, probably most expensive, and most overrated restaurant, Gundel reopened in 1992. The restaurant is the place for the Hungarian elite and other dignitaries to see and be seen dining in the opulent dining room adorned with 19th-century paintings. Lamb and wild-game entrees are house specialties. The Gundel menu also includes four sets of gourmet choices with fixed prices. There are many other choices in the city for excellent meals at a lower cost. Jacket required for men.

Gundel Restaurant

Any break to a popular European city for just a weekend always piles on the pressure for you to eat, see and do all the best things in a short space of time. There is only one restaurant you need to worry about and its the Gundel. It is Hungarian cuisine but then again you are in Hungary!

Alabárdos Restaurant

This Restaurant is in a 400 year old gothic building across Matthias Church. Its a small beautiful restaurant which reminds of the Medieval Ages tradition & atmosphere through its beautiful Terrace & Courtyard as well as the room of the Knights. Its has a Open kitchen where one can see what he going to eat & how it is being prepared. Its encourages the communication between kitchen & the guests. Delicious food items are being served here.

A great little restaurant in the heart of Budapest,just at the corner from the main square.This place offers traditional Hungarian cuisine combined with internationally known dishes and beverages.The service is nice and helpful,but the staff doesn't speak English and there is a bit of a language barrier.an they do not accept any credit cards!But the food and the ambient are great!

Gundel is considered to be the best restaurant in Budapest.And you can see way when you try to make a reservation.You can wait for a table for up to week!The design of the restaurant is in late twentieth century style,the terrace offers great view of the old part of the city,and the food is a story of its own.You should try the traditional lamb and taste the very best in Hungarian cuisine.A truly remarkable restaurant!
