We took a walk to the top of this hill and discovered more than we ever thought! I knew there was a citadel up there, which is now an impressive looking hotel. But the Cave Church was the impromptu highlight, totally unexpected! Views, amazing.

what a great place to go. I love buildings that were built for more-or-less pure decoration as they are always beautiful and a little mad. This is no exception, with seven towers, plenty of stairways and other fancy additions, plus some pretty spectuacular views.

Between Chain Bridge and Elizabeth Bridge there is this beautiful promenade ideal for strolling and seeing the views over to the Buda side. Just marvellous, we came here most days, since our hotel was pretty close to it, just to enjoy the views.

Like a castle with sever pointed towers this bastion feels a little bit magical. And the views are more than a bit special, with St Stephen’s Basilica, Margaret Island, Parliament and the Academy of Sciences all within view plus much more. You can even go at night for free, which we did on our last night there.
