What an amazing museum! I thought i'd seen loads of artefacts before as I always look out for the travelling exhibitions, but this was something else altogether! Completely engrossing.

Having visited the Louvre and the British Museum, I found it hard to believe that there could be anything left in Egypt from the Pharonic period. I was surprised, then to find that there were more sarcophagi, scarabs and sculptures in the Museum than there was possibly space to accomodate, stuff was falling out of cupboards and stacked three- deep on shelves. Still, wonderful and worth seeing.

Situated in the Tahrir square in Cairo and dating back to 1897. The ground floor there are the huge statues. The upper floor houses small statues, jewels, Tutankhamon treasures and the mummies. It is a fantastic museum.

I was surprised that there were any artifacts left in Egypt having seen the British Museum and Louvre collections. But sure enough, the museum is absolutely bursting at the seems. Making up for in sheer quantity what it lacks in scholarly value. The Greek/Egyptian sculptures stand out most strongly in my hand
