This is the most perfect example of Raj architecture I saw in India, its a vast white building combining Mughal and Victorian elements. There are some lovely gardens around the memorial and inside are a gallery and museum chronicling the history of Victorian rule in India. It's closed on Mondays.

Jainism is a very peaceful and pacifist religion and whilst I was in India, I made a point of visiting as many of their temples as I possibly could as they were always beautiful, welcoming and very unique. The Kolkata Jain temple is no exception- it's inlaid with lots of glass and is white throughout. There are two levels with lots of idols and people meditating constantly. You can get tours if you wish.
