Xel-ha Ruins

I cannot believe how lovely Cancun is! These ruins were in the middle of some pretty dense jungle and it was amazing to come out and find the ruins. The pyramid and mural inside were my top bit here.

The name of the place, the beauty, and the mayan ruins right there too, just an amazing spot. We were so lucky that our hotel was nice and close to it.

You can't go to Mexico and not see any Mayan ruins now can you? This is an impressive site with the remains of a palace as well as a huge pyramid! And all with so many fewer tourists than the Egyptian Pyramids.

Sian Kaan Biosphere

I went here for studying as part of my degree and fell head over heels in love with this amazing and beautiful park. The coral reef is a particular highlight but the ethos behind the park, the ruins and sheer variety of animal life there just makes it so special. You can't see it all on a day trip but you should definitely go and see a bit.

On my third trip to Cancun I finally made it to these ruins, everyone had always raved about them to me, and I was amazed at how great they were, especially considering the small rock heaps that often pass for ruins in Europe! Really interesting and lovely place, the pyramid (Castillo) is amazing. Also a great place to get souvenirs it was so cheap here!!
