Kommetjie

Awesome surf area, loads of breaks that work at different times of the day thanks to the reef. Try by the lighthouse for a bigger break or Inner Kommetjie for fun waves.

I absolutley loved it here, we spent the best part of a week exploring Cape Town and then headed out to Gordon's Bay for a week of R&R which made for a wonderful holiday.

Gordon Bay is about half an hour's drive or so from Cape Town

False Bay

Whilst we did do a little sightseeing i'm a firm believer that if you're on holiday then you should spend plenty of time on the beach. Less trendy than the atlantic coast, the indian ocean is warm, stunning and inviting and we spent many happy days on the beach here, sticking to the end where the buses come in and the next bay round, Fish Hoek Beach.

south of the city, you can get there easily on public transport but a car is easier

Noordhoek Beach Horseriding

I absolutely loved this trip, we went to the beach, where we rode the most lovely horses across the huge beach and across some wetlands. The amount of wildlife was unbelievable, we were lucky enough to see a flock of flamingoes but sadly no whales or dolphins were seen. Great fun, totally exhilarating.

Boulders Beach Penguins

I love penguins and couldn't pass up this chance to see them in their natural habitiat rather than at the zoo. there were walkways so you can get pretty close without disturbing them and i watched their adorable antics for absolutley hours!

where, when, how, web
you'll need to drive out towards the cape and find simons town on the m4, and the beach is just there
