The ultimate pizzeria. Second best pizza i have ever had (Scotland being best). Not coming here while staying in Chicago is the equivalent of not visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris. A must see, affordable delicious dining experience. Family dining is fairly cheap even though the price of visiting Chicago is very expensive. If you are strictly a fan of New York style pizza, this is not going to the place for you. Bring an empty stomach with you.

Salpicon is a gourmet Mexican restaurant in Old Town. Notable for its full-page menu of tequilas, it is a small, intimate restaurant with some outside tables. You won't find refried beans and rice spilling over your plate, but well-executed, beautifully presented morsels. In season, definitely try the fried squash blossoms - my personal favorite.

A wonderful boutique hotel situated right in the middle of all of the action of Chicago. The James Hotel has a funky, urban, edgy vibe featuring zen-like rooms with all of the amenities. The staff was fantastic during my recent stay – everyone from the doorman, to the concierge, to the bartender in the attached steakhouse restaurant and bar remembered me and catered to my every need.

The Art Institute is one of the world's premier art museums. It holds and exhibits extensive collections from various periods, regions and masters. there are specialized collections by media as well. The extensive galleries are distinctive, and the brand new Modern Wing (open May, 2009) exemplifies the whole institute's use of materials, light, and accessibility. The best thing to do is visit the web site and browse the collections for specific things you will want to see when you visit, as well as special events or exhibits during your time in Chicago. My own favorites include the restored Chicago Stock Exchange in the architecture and design exhibits (which also features the american architect Frank lloyd Wright), and the French Impressionists' works. Georges Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte is a must see -- and you cannot miss it since it measures over 81 by 120 inches! I have visited over american thanksgiving, when I particularly enjoyed exhibits celebrating Christmas.

Without a doubt, I firmly believe that one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Chicago is the Tribune Tower, home of the Chicago Tribune. It is an impressive neo gothic structure, that also acts as a tribute to other famous structures in the world, because among its stonework are stones from the White House, the Berlin Wall, the Parthenon and others. It is definitely worth a look.
