So if you're not staying in a hotel with its own beachfront there are some options, and I think Kite beach is the best. It's easier to get to than Al mazmar, and thre's always a space to lay your towel and catch some rays, just watch out for kitesurfers if the winds are good, they'll fly over the sand and back to the sea to try and scare you!!

My boyfriend and I decided to have a cultural day away from the beach and this was definitely the highlight. The beautiful ornate building went perfectly with the middle eastern artwork. My favoutire part was the furniture though, I could have bought any number of pieces, if only they would have fitted in my suitcase...

I loved this contemporary art museum, featuring work from across the gulf region. I had no idea it was such a hotbed of interesting artistic work! And set in a lovely traditional house really made a great statement.

Probably the most surreal but lovely souk i've been to. It does have all the aspects of a normal souk, and more that's for sure it just feels a little strange. I loved arriving by water taxi and the little palza they'd worked in but i think it's just a bit to clean and cool to be like the real thing!

This resort is thankfully insulated from the construction work going on in the rest of the city. there are several villas and a couple of hotels in the grounds of the resort and these are connected by some lovely man made waterways. You're also near to the Wild Wadi Water Park and a huge Arabian Souq and a beautiful, pristine beach.
