What fantastic gardens! Stunning and slightly wild, although the landscaping makes them what they are, with fountains and a rose garden as well as a maze forming the backbone of the design.

We went for a stroll here pretty early on the Sunday morning and it was serene and lovely, I guess students really do sleep in on the weekends!! Next time we go back to Dublin we'll go for a guided tour but this was a pretty good way to see the place.

Phoenix Park is the largest enclosed urban garden in Europe and sits just on the periphery of Dublin. The People's Gargen is worth a look as it has some lovely flower beds and the obelisk to the Duke of Wellington is the most famous landmark in the park. The Park was initially designed for hunting purposes and you can still find deer grazing in the grounds.
