Not just your average library, this has a huge collection dating way back in history with egyptian papyrus and old illustrated qur'ans. The joy doesn't stop with books though as there are lots of other things to see like costumes, artworks and miniatures. A great place to spend a rainy afternoon!

The Book of Kells was written around 800 AD. This manuscript of the gospels is intricately painted and designed. 2 of the 4 Book of Kells are always on display with one page being turned each day to expose another breathtaking page. They do not take reservations, but you do need to purchase tickets which currently cost 9 Euros for adults. There are discount tickets for seniors and students as well as family packages. Plan on waiting from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the time of the year. Once inside it will take you about one hour to enjoy the library.
