High Kirk of st. Giles

You can almost touch the history here with loads of old things to look at as part of the structure that is there today. Don't miss the amazing stained glass windows or the four pillars by the holy table which date back to the 12th century.

My macabre teenager insisted we come here on our holiday, and always pleased to get her intersted in anything, i obliged, although i drew the line at the nighttime ghost tour! The church is magnificent and the guide was friendly and informative.

Duddingston Village

So near, yet it feels so far from Edinburgh's city centre. My partner and I came here to explore the quaint church and graveyard and to enjoy a walk by the loch. To add to all this wholesome enjoyment we also sampled a bit of the local hard stuff at the famous Sheep Heid Inn.

this lovely village is hidden just the other side of hollyrood park, we got a taxi from our b&b and walked back
