You can almost touch the history here with loads of old things to look at as part of the structure that is there today. Don't miss the amazing stained glass windows or the four pillars by the holy table which date back to the 12th century.

The Edinburgh Castle dominates the skyline of Edinburgh, as it sits on top of Castle rock. The views from the top of the castle are wonderful. The Scottish National War museum is moving and informative. If that is all that you go there for then you will not be disappointed. Overall the place is a bit of a joke. The dungeon area is a really lame Pirates of the Caribbean rip off but the kids seem to enjoy it. The prices are expensive for what you are getting. But if you pick a nice clear and hopefully warm day, it can be nice.
