It's a real treat to get to go inside the oldest house on the royal mile. It's had a colourful history but the craftsmanship in the place itself is worth the entry price alone. Great!

Dominating the skyline the Castle is my favoutire Edinburgh attraction, there's so much to see and so much history in the old buildings. Look out for napoleonic graffiti and the dog cemetery!!

What was once the centre for a market and public hangings is now a great place to admire a mix of architecture and grab some drinks or a bite to eat in the heart of the old town.

If your children are magpies like mine then this is a great place to go. With plenty of history about this old bank to keep us entertained and shiny money-related things for them we passed a good while here exploring all the exhibits.

This is an unusual way to spend some time surrounded by ancient history. The building dates back to the 1400s and it is fun for all ages, although very young kids will not get as much history out of it.
