On one of my excursions around Edinburgh, I happened to come across Arthur’s Seat, which is located in the middle of the city’s Holyrood Park. Surprisingly, this small hill is all that remains of a now extinct volcano, as I never had heard of any volcanoes anywhere other than near the Pacific. There is also a great view once you climb to the top.

Perched high atop an extinct volcano, the Edinburgh Castle is instantaneously recognized from all parts of the city. Over 1,000 years of rich history are contained within its thick walls. No visit to Edinburgh would be complete without a tour of the castle. Bring your camera, because there are glorious view of the city from the top. Visitors to the castle will find out fascinating pieces of information about the city of Edinburgh and the development of Scotland. Archaeologists have found evidence that proves inhabitants were present at the Castle's location dating back to 900 BC.
