The spire of the Frankfurt Cathedral is a wonderful sight and a very unusual shape. Much of the Cathedral itself has been reconstructed after it was destroyed during WWII. It is now much more modern and less ornate than it must once have been but it is still worth a visit.

There are quite a few big museums to see in Frankfurt and you might not get around to visiting the little icon museum. If you can squeeze it in, though, its well worth a look. It has displays of icon paintings from across the orthodox world Russia, Greece, Ethiopia etc with some really informative and well choreographed special displays.

Visit the house of Goethe if you're in Frankfurt. Its a really interesting look back in time to the mid 18th century when Goethe lived here (although everything you see is a reconstruction as the original house was destroyed during the war). Its incredible to stand in the place where Germany's foremost literary figure wrote his first novel and started writing Faust. There are some informative displays too.
