This part of Goa once had the power and status of Lisbon. Now all that remains are a number of beautiful churches and cathedrals, an official UNESCO site. The atmopshere is quite electric.

Old Goa (also known as Goa Velha) is the 'old city' and one of the most culturally rich areas of the city. Old Goa is chalk full of scenic churches, covenants, and some of the most beautiful architecture in the region. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and a must-see for those interested in history, architecture, and old world scenery. Worth seeing is the Museum of Christian Art in addition to all of the historic churches and cathedrals.
