This is a wonderful spot, up at the Po Lin Monastery where you can walk on the Wisdom path but best of all it's where the totally massive Buddha is! It's worth the 200-step climb to see it up close.

Best known for its giant buddha statue, the monastery itself is also worth a look, and not just for the fantastic scenery that surrounds it. Delicious lunch is followed by a walk along the Wisdom Path to the Heart Sutra.

This is quite a ways from central Hong Kong but it is well worth the trip. Buddhas don't get any bigger than this. It took more than ten years to build. It is made entirely of metal and consists of a steel framework covered by steel and bronze "skin," as well as over one ton of gold amalgam. There are 268 steps to get to the Buddha.
