Be prepared! Hard sell and exorbitant over asking are the order of the day here. A lot of the things on sale are really great and after a bit of haggling are very affordable. The trick with haggling I suppose is to demand a price much lower than your maximum and probably about half the initial asking price. This will soon get beaten up but the lower you start, the quicker the stall holder will come down.

Having seen asia as a hive of innovative electronics throughout my childhood I was so excited about shopping here, in the electronics centre of Hong Kong, and I was not disappointed. Well, the experience was amazing, some of the gadgets I dreamed up as a child though were sadly missing. The Mongkok Computer Centre was amazing though.

My daughter and I love shopping and this was just the perfect place for us to pick up a couple of genuine antiques to take home. I would love to live near it as there's so much lovely old furniture here, it broke my heart to leave one of the stunning japanese screens behind but it just wouldn't fit in my case! Man Mo Temple is also a must-see on the route, a brief detour from the shopping plan but beautiful.

Ok, so it's a bit touristy but what's the point of going on holiday if you can't indulge a little? It's a traditional open-air market and sells all sorts of souvenirs as well as some exquisite chinese dress items and silk garments. A great place to pick up something for all the relatives, or just for yourself.

This store was the ultimate shopping experience. With collections in womenswear, menswear, shoes and accessories, jewellery, cosmetics, and home and lifestyle collections it satisfied all my shopping needs and my husband enjoyed it too!
