Our visit to this magnificent statue was one of the highlights of our stay in Hong Kong. The fact that it is outside with stunning views that add to the magic. This buddha is sat on a podium and measures just under 34m. We were lucky that when we visited it was the Buddha’s Birthday, a public holiday and a lively time to visit, when thousands make the pilgrimage.

This is quite a ways from central Hong Kong but it is well worth the trip. Buddhas don't get any bigger than this. It took more than ten years to build. It is made entirely of metal and consists of a steel framework covered by steel and bronze "skin," as well as over one ton of gold amalgam. There are 268 steps to get to the Buddha.
