Asfendiou

We stumbled across the village of Asfendiou completely by chance one day on the way from Zia. It soon transpired that the whole village is completely deserted and we wandered around for a while inspecting deserted houses a church and an olive oil factory, The traces that people had discarded or left behind were fascinating and spooky.

Defterdar Mosque

This building dates back to the 18th century when it was constructed as a mosque. It's still a functioning place of worship but now also hosts a few shops and a cafe. Sacreligious, maybe but its alovely building and nice to appreciate over a cup of coffee . It's located on Platia Eleftherias.
