Eco Tour Farmara (Local Charms)

Although i'm not a fan of tours it seemed the best way to see a little more of the island without the hassle of hiring a car. We chose an eco tour from the village of Famara where I was blown away by the beauty of the beach and the delicious tapas (although the health products they sold weren't that great), then onto the Cesar Manrique Foundation and finally a drive into the wine region for some tasting. Great day out.

We got picked up from our hotel, although others on the tour had had to make their own way there.

Having made friends with a local on a trip to san bartolome, he opened up my eyes to the great wines that are produced on the island. i'd never have thought that the dark volcanic soil would be any good for growing anything, let alone vines! On my next holiday i'm determined to find a vineyard and do some serious tasting.

Really interesting little place showing how wine-making has evolved. My uncle runs a vineyard in france and he was totally intrigued by some of the old technology he saw and was taking loads of pictures! Mmmm and the wine's really good too!!
