Ethel M's is a chocolate company in Las Vegas that offers free samples and tours of factory.They also have one of the worlds largest cactus gardens on site that is also free.It is a great way to escape the heat as well as get away from the casinos for a change of pace and scenery while visiting Vegas.

Hoover Dam

The great Hoover Dam is actually a thirty mile drive souteast of Las Vegas on Highway 93 at the Nevada-Arizona border. Open to visitors since 1937, this astounding land reclamation project offers tours of both the dam and the power plant. Trips to Las Vegas that miss this great engineering feat, as well as surrounding landscape, may be enjoyable but are somehow incomplete.

Penn and Teller living in Las Vegas show

Penn and Teller provide a unique magic show. Now if you are expecting flying tigers and cheesy dancers, this is not the show for you. They serve up their form of unique magic on a plate of mockingly good jokes. All is done with a wink. You will have a good time at this very underrated show. Tickets are about $75 and they perform every night but Friday.

Madame Tussauds

This place is amazing - you will see life like wax figures that are life sized as well. It is a neat mix of memorabilia and historical background information. It is more for teens and adults, younger kids will most likely get bored very quickly and there is so much to see! There are modern pop stars and historical figures. They also have a scare maze - but I passed on that!

Gondola Rides at the Venetian

One of the most enjoyable experiences in all of Las Vegas is taking a gondola ride at the Venetian. I think it is the only place in all of North America where you can do this, and my wife loves it as it is very romantic. You get about a 20 minute ride, with a singing gondolier, and you can almost imagine you are in Venice.
