The London Eye

posted by qrodacker on 1 July 2009 at 01:43

This is the terrific, giant "Ferris Wheel" that towers over the Thames and can be seen from just about anywhere in London. Conversely, you can see just about all of London from The Eye. It's a "must do," preferably at the beginning of your London visit. It'll give you an eagle's eye view of the city you're about to discover. If you already know London but haven't tried the Eye, you'll appreciate seeing your favorite places from this fabulous perspective. If you balk at the fare, it's worth every penny. The only way to get a better view is to hire helicopter. The Eye is also very accessible, so if you have a mobility issue, it shouldn't be a problem at all. The operators actually stop the Eye so that getting on and off is a breeze. There are ramps, disabled discounts, and something called the Fast Track which means you don't have to wait in a long line to board.

Hotel Ritz

posted by Shaon on 4 June 2009 at 21:17

The Ritz is one of the most remarkable hotels in all of London. The ambiance of this hotel is simply majestic. The interior and the decor of the hotel are stunning. The staff is awesome. The rooms look like the rooms of a palace. The hotel is located just 10 minutes away from Buckingham Palace. Most of all, I loved the tea, a royal experience overall.

The London Dungeon

posted by Texas on 1 June 2009 at 20:00

It's a tour through the torture history of London. It's like a museum walk through tour where you walk by exhibits of torture methods used over history. It's a fun tour and it's a little creepy, but it was my favorite thing I did on my first trip to London.

Tower of London

posted by irishiiiiiis on 25 May 2009 at 00:39

The Tower of London is a must do tourist site when in London. First buy your tickets on line and pick them up at the kiosk. You will save a ton of time and some money. Second get there early and visit preferably during the week. If you go later in the day on a weekend and did not pre-purchase your ticket then off with your head! When we were there the Crown Jewels were not, I have no idea where they were, but they were not there which sucked. So you might want to find out if they will be there during your visit and time your trip to the Tower accordingly. The Beefeaters (the guards not the gin) were for the most part jerks to the tourists. I guess it sucks to wear that outfit all day and deal with tourists, but the jerkiness was not called for. Kudos to the guy who took one of their hats during our visit. It was quite amusing as we watched them have a hissy fit with each other over it (no stiff upper lip here, they were having cows) Highlight of the trip to London.

This is a working theater dedicated to Shakespeare and his plays. The tour takes you behind the scenes and into the life of Shakespeare, his background and his writing. It is educational and historical.
