Portola Trail

I love city breaks but also hiking so I like to try and combine the two. I loved this 5 mile walk around the Elysian Park. We printed off directions from the internet <a href="http://www.hike-la.com/hike_elysian_park_portola_trail.html">here</a>. Enjoy!

Huntingdon Botanical Gardens

What an amazing garden. My daughter and I spent all day here enjoying the plants and the different parts of the gardens. The people who work there are so friendly and knowledgeable too it's wonderful there.

Coachella Valley Preserve

I've never been so extraordinay in my life! This is a vast desert preserve dotted with lush areas teeming with palm trees and life thanks to the life giving water from the San Andreas fault. Wonderful and memorable day out.

Aquarium of the Pacific

Soo cute! Puffins puffins puffins! And loads more besides! If you're an aquarium lover you have to get yourself here to marvel at the tropical reef arch, where I could have stayed all day.

Escondido Falls

We needed a break from the urban scene so we went to seek out this waterfall. Beautiful scenery leads to it so it's a real treat to make the walk, and then the waterfall is lovely. Not much water in May but i'm sure if you go nearer to winter it might get really impressive!!
